UAE VAT credit notes for founders

A credit note corrects a tax invoice when you refund, reduce price or fix a VAT error. It should reference the original invoice and carry matching VAT fields. EmiraBooks creates credit notes linked to invoices; you remain responsible for the VAT story on EmaraTax.

Steps

  1. Identify the original tax invoice number and dates.
  2. Decide the reason: return, discount, error, cancellation.
  3. Issue a credit note with Tax Invoice style fields and a clear reference.
  4. Adjust inventory or income in the books if needed.
  5. Reflect the credit in the VAT201 period that FTA rules require.

Timing

Period rules for when a credit appears on the VAT201 can be strict. Confirm Executive Regulation timing with your advisor before you push a large adjustment.
